The Anthony ISD varsity percussion ensemble competed for the first time in the Sun City Throwdown, a competition focused on percussion talents. The Anthony percussion competed in the Class A division and had a triumphant performance that earned them the titles of Outstanding Tenors, Outstanding Snares, and the coveted 1st place in their class. "Our percussion section is made up of kids who are determined and dedicated. This season has reflected their hard work," said Hilario Lozoya, AISD Percussion Tech. The competition, hosted annually by Eastwood High School, drew talented bands from all over the region, making it a fierce musical showdown. However, the Anthony ISD band stood tall with their remarkable musical talents. “I am proud of what they have accomplished within these few months. This program is headed in the right direction," Lozoya said. One of the highlights of their performance was the drumline showcasing their incredible talent. The judges were impressed as the band's tenors and snares delivered a breathtaking performance. The band members left the competition grounds with their trophies, carrying the pride of their community on their shoulders. They look forward to further opportunities to showcase their exceptional musical talents and are already setting their sights on future victories.
