With the results coming in this November 8th morning, we are ready to see who was elected to the City of Anthony NM Trustees and the Gadsden Independent School District Board.
City of Anthony Trustees
With two Trustee seats up for grabs for the City of Anthony, we have Fernando Gomez Herrera with 29% of the votes taking the seat away from incumbent Elva J Flores who had 21%. The other seat was filled by Jose G Garcia Jr with 28% of the votes.
Fernando Herrera campaigned with the objectives to “Stop increases of property taxes”, “Continue Street repairs and funding for all streets”, “Bring back resident comments at board meetings” and “Communication/transparency to the residents”.
Jose G. Garcia Jr campaigned with the objectives to “Build family-oriented parks”, “Eliminate wasteful spending”, Increase gross receipt tax base by bringing in more businesses”, “Stream Board of Trustees meetings live online”, also to “Bring back public comments to board meetings”, “Ensure Dos Lagos Project does serve our communities”, and “Ensure City budget is fiscally sound”.
Gadsden Independent School District Board
For GSID District 1 we have Christian Lira with 60% winning over Armando Cano with 40%.
For GSID District 3 we have Claudia Rodriguez who ran unopposed getting 100% of votes.
For GISD District 4 we have Daniel Castillo receiving 53% of the votes winning over Hector S. Giron with 47%.

For Anthony Water and Sanitation Director at Large we have Ron E. Gillett winning 100% unopposed.
For the Public-School Capital Improvements ($2.00 Mil) Tax Question:

Was approved with 64% Yes and 36% No.
Dona Ana Community College general obligation bond question:
Shall the advisory board of the New Mexico State University Doña Ana Community College District be authorized to issue up to $16,000,000 of general obligation bonds for the purpose of erecting, furnishing, constructing, purchasing, remodeling, and equipping buildings and utility facilities, exclusive of stadiums; making other real property improvements; purchasing grounds; and purchasing and installing computer hardware and software; or any combination of these purposes? Was approved with 71% Yes and 29% No.
