Celebrate the Coolest Fest in the Southwest
EL PASO, Texas - The City of El Paso and Scherr Legate PLLC Attorneys at Law present WinterFest with opening day set for Saturday, November 18.
The iconic holiday celebration encompasses six full weeks of family-friendly holiday fun, twinkling lights, local performers, and an ice-skating rink from November 18, 2023, through January 1, 2024. This year, the Scherr Legate Law Firm is the title sponsor of WinterFest and the Lights Parade.

Opening day festivities begin at 2 p.m. with the Downtown Arts and Farmers Market at San Jacinto Plaza, followed by a program that leads to the traditional Tree Lighting Ceremony at 4:30 p.m. The tree lighting at San Jacinto Plaza happens at 6 p.m. followed by the Scherr Legate WinterFest Lights Parade. The City’s only light parade, which celebrates its 28th anniversary, will sparkle with more than 55 community entries
made of illuminated floats, marching bands, dance groups, and twinkling walkers winding throughout downtown.
THE RINK
The Rink is back for another year of outdoor ice-skating fun. Located at the Convention Center Plaza, The plaza will also feature live entertainment and local vendors seven days a week. Visitors may purchase ice-skating tickets on the website at www.EPWinterFest.com/The-Rink.
THE ATTRACTIONS
New this year, visitors can enjoy the Glacier Glide ice slides in the Arts Festival Plaza (area between the El Paso Museum of Art and Plaza Theatre). Additional attractions include the Sun City Express at the Pedestrian Pathway, weekend performances by local bands and artists during the Holiday Fiestas, and Photos with Santa sponsored by GECU. Visitors can take a stroll along the bedecked Paseo de las Luces which has festive holiday décor. There will also be free holiday movies at the Plaza Theater and the El Paso
Museum of Art presented by the El Paso Community Foundation Plaza Classic Film Festival. The El Paso International Airport, the El Paso Streetcar, the El Paso Zoo, the El Paso Public Libraries the El Paso Museum of Art, and the El Paso Museum of History will join in the festivities with holiday décor, activities, and programs.
San Jacinto Plaza will be lit with more than 500,000 mini-lights, oversized decorations, and a 55-foot holiday tree throughout the season. The lights at the plaza will turn on daily from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. Visitors are encouraged to take pictures and use WinterFest hashtags: #EPWinterFest, and #AImElPaso.
